Joan Barry was an English actress and miscellaneous artist who was active in the entertainment industry from the 1920s to the 1950s. She was born Ina Florence Marshman Bell on 5 November 1903 in London, England. She began her career as a chorus girl in the 1920s and went on to appear in a number of films, including The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), The 39 Steps (1935), and The Lady Vanishes (1938). She also appeared in a number of stage productions, including the original production of Noël Coward's Private Lives (1930). In addition to her acting career, Barry was also a successful painter and sculptor. She exhibited her work at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. She also wrote several books, including a biography of her husband, the actor and director Robert Atkins. Barry died on 28 April, 1988 in London, England. She was 84 years old.
